About psychoanalysis and psychotherapy
Psychoanalysis (sessions 2-5 times a week) and psychotherapy (once-a-week) are practices based on talking and listening. What is the motivating force for change? Can it be love and a desire for knowledge?
Psychoanalysis and psychotherapy can be profoundly joyful and deeply painful. They are not goal oriented. The therapeutic effect happens as part of the process. As you talk freely, the unconscious opens and closes in a remarkable way. It is this that allows us, together, to find new ways of thinking about life and for you to to tell your story, whatever that may be. Change is painful, yet, paradoxically, in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy there is a great deal of joy.
